WIT March 2025 Newsletter
Happy International Women’s Month! Hopefully you have been seeing our inspirational quotes from women on our social media. We’ll be continuing to share through the whole month. We couldn’t let March go without doing something to recognize this month.
What have we been up to?
We had two meetings this past month.
First, Surbhi Pokharna presented “Unlocking the Power of Azure SQL DB Hyperscale.” She did a wonderful job describing the architecture of the different Azure SQL DB and how hyperscale is an overlooked option. Unfortunately, we’re unable to share the recording due to technical difficulties. However, Surbhi graciously offered to rerecord her session just for us. We will let you know when it is available.
Next up was Shriya Agarwal and her session, “Future of Data Engineering: Trends, Tools, and Technologies.” Shirya gave a great presentation on all the information we need to know about data engineering’s current state and future direction.
Thanks again to both of our speakers for sharing with us. If you want to catch up on any of our meetups, check out our YouTube channel.
What’s coming up in April?
Akshata Revankar will discuss “Git Integration and Azure DevOps for Power BI—Implementing CI/CD.” The meeting will be on April 8th at noon Eastern US time, so save the date. Better yet, RSVP on our Meetup.
What Do You Need? How Can We Help? Let’s Build This Together.
As the co-leaders of Data Platform Women in Technology (WIT), we have been planning and brainstorming ways to support this incredible community. So many ideas—oh, there are plenty! But our ideas mean nothing if they aren’t what you want, so the question is—what do you want? What would help you the most?
The goal is simple: to support, empower, and celebrate women in data while fostering inclusion, collaboration, and success. But to truly make an impact, your voice is essential. Would more technical sessions sharpen your skills? Would career development opportunities, mentorship, or stronger networking make a difference? Is greater visibility and advocacy for women in data what’s needed? No assumptions—your input matters most.
This community thrives because of its members. The best ideas often come from within. Is there expertise to share, topics to explore, or initiatives to lead? Does something feel missing—something that would make a difference if brought to life? Whether mentoring, speaking, writing, organizing, or simply sharing a fresh perspective, every contribution helps shape this space. No idea is too big or too small—let’s build it together. What excites you?
Sharing thoughts is easy. Just email us and say what’s on your mind. No formalities, no long surveys—just an open invitation to shape this community in a way that truly supports you.
Data Platform WIT exists to empower, support, and celebrate women in data. To do that in a way that truly matters, the focus must be on what works best for you. What do you need? What would help you thrive? We’re listening and can’t wait to build something amazing together.
With eager anticipation,
Tracy
